Mihomo is designed for servers, routers, containers, and automated deployments. It has no desktop GUI, so you must provide YAML configuration, service management, and startup parameters. Most desktop and mobile users should choose a GUI client above.

Desktop computers

When you need subscription management, a system proxy toggle, proxy-group switching, and logs, the GUI clients above are more convenient. The core package does not provide a desktop settings window.

Server deployment

Run uname -m on the server, choose the file for the displayed architecture, and manage the process with systemd, containers, or a process supervisor.

Router devices

First confirm that the firmware permits custom programs, then check the CPU architecture, ABI, and available storage. The chip vendor alone is not enough to determine which core to download.

Confirm the operating system

Windows and macOS packages are not interchangeable. Android requires APK files, while Linux desktops need deb or rpm according to the distribution.

Check the processor architecture

Apple silicon, Intel, AMD64, ARM64, and ARMv7 target different systems. The system being able to download a file does not mean the file can run on the current device.

Preserve existing configuration

Before upgrading or switching clients, export local overrides, rules, and configuration files. Subscription URLs can be imported again, but local changes usually need to be migrated manually.

First launch and permissions

System proxy, TUN, or mobile VPN services may trigger permission prompts. Read the permission names shown by the system, grant access, and then test the connection.

Which Clash client should I download for Windows?

Clash Plus is the preferred choice. For deeper Mihomo GUI configuration, rule overrides, and TUN settings, choose Clash Verge Rev. Clash for Windows is no longer maintained and is best reserved for restoring old configurations or existing environments.

How do I tell Apple silicon and Intel Macs apart?

Open the Apple menu in the upper-left corner and select About This Mac. Choose the Apple silicon build when the chip is an Apple M-series; choose the Intel build when the processor is Intel. The wrong build may fail to open or require additional compatibility translation.

Should I choose arm64, arm, or universal for Android?

Most recent Android phones and tablets use arm64. Older 32-bit devices can use arm; if the processor architecture is unknown, use the universal package for Clash Meta for Android. x86_64 is mainly for some emulators and specialized devices.

What is the difference between deb and rpm packages on Linux?

Ubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint, and other Debian-based distributions generally use deb; Fedora, RHEL, Rocky Linux, and similar distributions generally use rpm. Also confirm that the device is AMD64, since this page primarily provides AMD64 Linux GUI packages.

What is the difference between the Mihomo core and a GUI client?

Mihomo is a command-line core that parses configuration and handles traffic without a desktop settings window. Servers, routers, containers, and automated deployments are better suited to the core; most desktop and mobile users should choose a GUI client with subscription management, proxy-group switching, and connection controls.

How do I import a Clash subscription after downloading?

After installing and launching the client, open its configuration, subscription, or Profiles page, paste the subscription URL from your provider, and update it.
